Interview with Chelsea Gadoury

Ch.L.: Country Music has many new fans in Europe, who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who'se never seen or heard you before.

C.G.:My music is a mix of different styles, because I have many influences. Most of my fans at live shows call it Chelsea Style, I can be a Country Entertainer or a Rock & Roll Entertainer, I love music of all kinds.

Ch.L.: Your current single is being played by radio. What do you thing is specail about this song that makes people what to hear it?

C.G.:It’s about getting what you want or who you want. Everyone has a goal or desire of something they want, and this song is about making it happen.

Ch.L.: What will your next single be?

C.G.:It’s about seeing someone you loved before and realizing you are not completely over it yet.

Ch.L.: What kind of songs do you like to record the most?

C.G.:Driving up-beat, did me wrong songs. My favorite one is You Can Feel Bad ( by: Patty Loveless)

Ch.L.: As an artist you have to do so many different things such as recording, touring, doing interviews etc. What do you like best, what's your favorite activity?

C.G.:I love playing live shows, seeing the faces of my fans, talking to them, taking their requests in person, it makes it feel real.

Ch.L.: What inspired you to become a songwriter?

C.G.:I wanted the World to know my opinions on everyday problems or situations,Country Music is all about story telling of life. There is always a song for what you are feeling or thinking.

Ch.L.: What drives you?

C.G.:My passion for music, I can never get enough, if I’m not playing or singing I’m usually listening. I love music and how it can effect everyday life.

Ch.L.: What moments in your career stand out in your memory as highlights and achievements which you're proud of?

C.G.:When I wanted to play the guitar, I asked my Dad for one and he said that I should learn to play the one I had, which was a small toy guitar. I told him I would . I learned all the chords and how to play it. He still wasn’t convinced because all kids want to play the guitar. I decided I would show him how serious I was and I started doing yard work for neighbors and saved my money and bought my first cheap acoustic guitar, and the rest is history. Dad finally said hey, she is serious about this music thing, and I started performing and playing in public and I love it.
I was very exited to win my first award last year when I won the Junior Newcomer of the Year Award at the Gladewater, Texas Opry and this year when I won the Colgate Country Showdown competition in Henderson, Texas.

Ch.L.: Who's your biggest critic, yourself or others?

C.G.: My Dad, he is not afraid to tell me if something sounds bad.He has a great ear for music even though he doesn’t play anything. He always tells me what I’m doing wrong and he’s always honest with me. He told me when I started singing that he would tell me the truth because thats what will make the difference. He said, if you are good I’ll tell you, if not I’ll tell you.

Ch.L.: When you get time off, how do you like to relax?

C.G.:It depends on what mood I’m in. I like to study languages, I speak French and Spanish and know sign langauge. I also like to study the Bible, play the guitar and play around with new chords. I like watching CSI on TV, I think I’ve seen every episode.

Ch.L.: Is there anything in your life that you would change if you could?

C.G.: No, I believe everything happens for a reason. It‘s part of a greater plan and I have no control over it. You can’t change the past so why dwell on it, you don’t want to look backward but always forward.

Ch.L.: What can your fans expect to see when they see you in concert?

C.G.:They can usually see me playing my acoustic or electric guitar with the band. They can also see me perform without the guitars. I love performing what the fans request and like.

Ch.L.: Many music fans today get their information about artists via the internet. Do you have your own website and what will fans find there?

C.G.:Yes, I do, it’s www.chelseagmusic.com Fans can find music, photos, links to all of my social networks, my show dates and buy T-shirts. I encourage all of my fans to check it out.

Ch.L.: What's your favorite song that you wish you could have recorded?

C.G.:You Can Feel Bad (by: Patty Loveless) I like the flow of the song and the way it is written.
